Due to the impacts of enormous natural disasters, earthquake and tsunami, that devastated Aceh in the end of 2004, the National Secretariat of PEKKA with support from JSDF through World Bank developed special program of post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction for the women headed household. From 2005 to December 2008, fund in the amount of IDR 5,304,352,069 had been spent to support activities of disaster management in Aceh. The number of direct beneficiaries was not less than 5,000 persons from both women headed household groups and other social groups. They received various facilities for increasing their capacity through training and education programs organized by women headed household groups, and almost 2,000 poor children received scholarships.

One of activities that were done in women headed household areas was reconstruction of houses and social facilities. Until the end of 2008, 239 houses in Aceh and 2 units of social facility had been rehabilitated and built. This activity will still be going on a year ahead.
