Political Empowerment

Political Empowerment Political empowerment program is developed based on the needs that are demanded in the field following more than 6 years women headed household groups had organized themselves. It is related to the progress of political system in Indonesia that has given more space to women participation in politics. At the early stage it was focused on the process of building political awareness among women of women headed household groups and on equipping themselves with capability to actively participate in public domain. Members of the groups were equipped with different tools to get involved in public affairs, for instance, capability to analyze state budget, capability to follow musrenbang (development planning meeting), and to comprehend leadership in political system of Indonesia.

Activities concerning education on politics were developed based on the needs that were demanded in the field following more than 6 years women headed household groups had organized themselves. It was related to the progress of political system in Indonesia that has given more space to women participation in politics. This activity have just begun in 2008, and at this early stage it was focused on the process of building political awareness among women of women headed household groups and on equipping themselves with capability to actively participate in public domain. Members of the groups were equipped with different tools to get involved in public affairs, for instance, capability to analyze state budget, capability to follow musrenbang (development planning meeting), and to comprehend leadership in political system of Indonesia. There were several activities having been carried out, among others training of trainers (TOT) at local and national levels, political courses at local level, dialogues with government, participation in musrenbang and nomination for village head and legislators.
