Many people agree that photograph can express a lot of facts more real and meaningful. A Photograph also can speak automatically, deliver a message both in explicit and implicit and also exceed limititation of literacy to some people who see that photograph. Besides that, a photograph is also an aid tool to see everything from variety point of views.

A Woman Headed Household Empowerment ( PEKKA ) aware a photograph power in empowerment process that has been done since earlier. For PEKKA, a photograph is not only a documentation way, but also an effective empowerment tool to woman headed household. Some PEKKA cadres have been trained in photography and they had capability to document many kinds aspects of surrounding life. A lot enough number of  Pekka Older Women’s photograph creations which  fully deep of social message had been showed in many arenas include in village level until international level.

According to those experiences, so that National Secretary of  PEKKA hold a photography training again to many potential cadres. The Participant who are trained are those who have willingness and commit to work as a local photographer in order to document some program activities of society empowerment.

Generally, this training aim is to enhance cadre skill in many activities which are related to documentation of empowerment program implementation in the society through photograph and will be a photography cadre.  The Trained photography cadre committ to do some documentation assignments periodically in a field that is assisted by a local field facilitator .


On those a training activities , the paticipant was trained a skill of photography technical and visioning and also program frame. A Training of Photography Technical Skill consist of introducing a digital camera equipment, introducing photography techniques ( direction of picture capturing, kinds and picture size ), arranging a simple manuscript and making photograph story, and also practicing an exhibition implementation. This training activity was held in 5 days, on 1st – 5th February 2009 which was located in Villa Kota Bunga, Cianjur, West Java. The participant who came from 8 of Pekka project areas were West Java, Central Java, NAD, West Kalimantan, South East Sulawesi, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, and Jakarta.

After they came back to their each regions, the participant had carried out assignments to photograph women involvement to PNPM program and also a daily photograph of society life . And then, those photographs were used  in process of critical awareness in society level and in some activities of photograph exhibitions on their each regions.
