Documentation and publication concerning the activities of women headed household groups and personal experiences of these women were produced mainly in the forms of video, photography and book. Within the period of 2005 – 2008, 34 videos with duration between 6 and 22 minutes were produced, consisting of 12 documentary videos about the women and 22 documentation video of these women’s activities. All these videos had been played in many activities done with these women or with other organizations. These videos became communication tools in disseminating information about the progress and activities of women headed household groups to public.

Besides video, the National Secretariat has also documented the activities and progress of women headed household groups in photography. There have been 35,329 pictures of various activities filed in the documentation center of the secretariat. These pictures are classified in 15 categories; Pekka Regional Forum, Pekka National Forum, Pekka Center, Legal Empowerment, Micro Finance Institution, Micro Business, Community Media, Art and Culture, Moneva, Training, Education, Union, General View on PEKKA’s Regions, International, etc.

PEKKA tried to published books and bulletin that had been initiated since the previous period. This period 4 editions of ‘Cermin’ bulletin were published, containing articles written by women headed household. Every edition contained any particular theme. The fourth theme was related to the theme of the programs conducted by women headed household groups. In this period the focused themes were education for all, women headed household taking the Lead, female entrepreneurs are able too, and bank for women headed household.

During this period PEKKA reprinted 1000 copies of the first series book entitled “Sebuah Dunia tanpa Suami” (A World without Husbands) written by members of women headed household groups. It was first published in the previous period. Although in the end of 2008 this reprinted book had not yet been published due to some causes, PEKKA has planned to publish other three books i.e. the second series of “Sebuah Dunia tanpa Suami” that contains 14 stories written by women headed household from Aceh, the third series of “Sebuah Dunia tanpa Suami” containing 21 stories of field facilitators’ reflection, and a book about the approaches that have been taken by PEKKA and a compilation of frameworks, tools and stories from the fields. The blueprints of these three books have been finished, so we hope that in the beginning of 2009 they can be published.

In 2008 the Secretariat National also conducted community media program with emphasis on development of community video and radio. Until the end of 2008 community video training had been done twice for many cadres of women headed household groups; in Aceh with 16 participants and in Jakarta with 12 participants. Following the trainings, 7 studios of community video were established, scattering in some regions of women headed household empowerment program. Subsequently, the women were assisted again through direct training in the field. During 2008 at least such trainings were done for seven times, involving 28 participants. Until the end of 2008 these studios have produced 13 videos about field stories with various issues.

Community radio is another medium that has been developed. Until the end of 2008 two community radio trainings had been done, in Aceh with 21 participants and in Jakarta with 23 participants, consisting of women headed household cadres who would be the personnel of community radio stations in their respective areas. There have been 5 community radio stations belonging to women headed household groups; 4 in Aceh and 1 in West Nusa Tenggara. These radios are managed by women headed household groups and for them a community radio has become a very effective communication medium.
